The Sweet Spot: Satisfies My Coffee Obsession AND My Sweet Tooth!

I had a hell of a morning last week.  So bad that I didn’t have time for coffee-this NEVER happens! You know I am having a bad day when I cannot even find the time to get or to make myself a cup of coffee.  But it was a rough one, folks.  Imagine not thinking you had to get two little kids (ages 1.5 and 4) to daycare in the morning, all ready to leave for work, said goodbye to husband, and then he says, “You’re not leaving are you? Did you forget you have to take the kids to daycare?” Total mood killer.  The good news was those little sassholes woke up happy (an hour to an hour and a half earlier than normal!), listened to everything I told them, and got out the door like I was a drill sergeant.  Hell yeah! But it still sucked.  When things don’t go as planned in the mornings, I get such high anxiety. Oh well.  Thanks kids for listening to momma!

Because I couldn’t make coffee at home or stop at Latte Donatte for my usual Americano with cream, I decided I would get a coffee on the way home.  There is a very cute little café in the town where I work-Whitewater, WI.  It is called The Sweet Spot.  They sell specialty coffee drinks, desserts, and wedding cakes.  They are so good, in fact, that they have TWO locations in Whitewater.  The smaller location houses coffee drinks and smaller desserts.  This is where I went after I finished teaching at 10:30 AM.

Ever since the weather got warmer, I have been craving iced coffee drinks.  Everyday.  Sometimes all day, every day.  It is a terrible habit and craving.  I am also in no rush to get rid of it.

Starbucks sells a yummy Iced Vanilla Sweet Crème Cold Brew (I think that is what I get), so I decided to try something similar at The Sweet Spot.  I ordered a Sweet Crème Vanilla Cold Brew.  Hot damn it was good! You can definitely taste the sugar in it, but it was not overwhelming as I was able to taste the coffee as well.  A combo of coffee, sugar, cream, and vanilla!? Best way to end my day!

BUT, what I ate with my coffee was just as delicious-a chocolate chip scone.  My absolute favorite way to drink my coffee is to pair it with some sort of pastry.  I cannot think of a better food and drink combination-not even wine and cheese beats this! My favorite pastries to eat with my coffee are scones, cookies, and muffins.  I will take one bite of a pastry and then one sip of my coffee. It is like an OCD of mine.  Maybe I am weird.  But if I don’t have something like these to eat with my coffee, I get a bit of anxiety and sometimes I even get sad!

This treat was incredibly yummy.  The Sweet Spot never fails to deliver! (I actually wish they DID deliver…to my office).
