Gypsy-Wealthy Woman In a Mid LIfe Crisis

If you want to watch a show where you have to wonder why the female lead character is so screwed up, then this would be a great one to watch.

Currently, there is one season out for you to enjoy.  I binge-watched it a couple nights while my husband was away for a work trip-I LOVE it when he is away for at least two nights in a row; I get to watch whatever I want without him gagging or rolling his eyes.  Yes, I watch trashy shows that involve adultery, sex, drama, and murder.  This show touched on the first three.  Right up my alley!

The show is a bit slow, but it has enough screwed up moments in it that keep you engaged.

The main character, Jean, is a therapist in Manhattan who should actually be really happy.  She has a great job, a husband who seems attentive and is an attorney, and a little girl.

However, she seems to be in some sort of mid-life crisis.  For whatever reason, she is not happy, so she seeks out ways to find happiness, which is by sneaking around, lying to others, using patients, and cheating on her husband.

This woman has no idea what she wants out of life.  She seems to want to go back to a life without a husband and kids, to where she can do whatever she wants.

Maybe she is struggling with the fact that her daughter is having a gender identity crisis and wants to be a boy.  I am not sure, but I do know that I found myself scolding at her quite a bit at many of her actions.

There were moments in which I DID yell at her, like-“Why the hell are you doing that? Your husband loves you and is a good man.  And since when the hell are you gay!?

Yep, she ends up meeting some barista at a coffee shop, gets completely infatuated with her, and starts following her around.  They soon become very close, and eventually engage in a sexual relationship.

The above is a picture of Jean at the girl’s concert (she’s a singer).  She is watching her in awe, completely infatuated with this woman.

This is sometime later, when they really start getting close.  But the woman’s ex-boyfriend is in the way of their relationship, in addition to, of course, Jean’s husband.

Jean uses her patient, who is the woman’s ex-boyfriend, to get information about her out of him.  This is where the patient “abuse” comes in.  The poor guy loved that girl so much, but she left him.

Jean uses this knowledge-that he still loves her and will do anything to get back with the girl-to ensure the girl doesn’t go back to him.  Jean manipulates him and tells him lies so the two do not reconnect, so that Jean and the girl can continue their adulterous relationship.

Eventually, Jean’s husband begins to suspect something is seriously wrong with her, and soon he even finds himself desiring other women.

Yep, one f-ed up show.

The last episode of the first season ended with a nice little cliff-hanger.  I won’t share it; it is for you to find out ;).

Even though I thought this chick was crazy and didn’t approve of anything she was doing, the show definitely kept me entertained, and I cannot wait for season two to come out.

Check out Gypsy if you’re into crazy women who are in a mid-life crisis.
